Dyeing Problems-Basic principle of cationic dye

Affecting the best dyeing process, the factors include dyeing temperature, dyeing PH value and application of additives.

 

1. water quality

Water quality is very important for cationic dye acrylic fiber. Water such as calcium magnesium ions, can be combined with acrylic acid anion gene and adsorption on the fiber, and cation for dyeing seat, so as to affect the dye on the dyeing strip and bright color. Therefore, the water must be softened when dyeing, if the water hardness is too high, often cause dyeing flowers. Especially very light color, it is easy to cause macula and color spots and other defects.

 

2. The dissolution of material

Ionic dyes are generally made of acetic acid (60%). Then add 40 or 50 times of the amount of boiling water to dissolve it. When the dye is pulped with glacial acetic acid, it must be stirred sufficiently to break the dye into granules.

 

3PH of Dye bath

Cationic dyes are generally not alkali - resistant. Adding acetic acid and sodium acetate as buffer in dyeing bath can adjust and stabilize the PH value of dyeing bath.PH value 4 -4.5 is the best range for cationic dyeing.

 

4 Electrolyte

Sodium sulphater (Na2SO4) is a common inorganic retarding agent. The amount of light dye can be higher, about 5 10%(for the fabric).Do not add heavy dye.

 

5. cationic surfactant

1227 is the retarding agent commonly used in acrylic dyeing, with good dyeing effect. It can effectively slow down the rate of cationic dyes.

The dosage of 1227 generally depends on the shade of dyeing.  dyeing light should be appropriate more, and dyeing darker should be added. In acrylic dyeing, excessive amount of 1227 will affect the net absorption of dyes in the dye solution. In order to repair or change the dyeing of the finished product, 1227 can be used for stripping in the acetic acid bath.

 

6. Bath Ratio

The dye bath ratio of cationic dyestuff acrylic fiber is related to the dye strip and color yield

Bath ratio is big, paint slowly. If the bath than too small, it’s easy to cause color flower phenomenon.

 

7. Compatibility of cationic dyes

When different cationic dyes are mixed together for dyeing, they may have different dyeing rates than when they are dyed alone. Therefore, the compatibility of dyes is an important property.

When two dyes are mixed and dyed, if the dyeing rate of each dye is equal and the ratio of the dye amount of each fiber is always unchanged with the increase of dyeing time, then the color tone of the dye remains basically unchanged in the whole dyeing process. These two dyes are compatible.

If the compatibility is inconsistent, in the whole dyeing process, not only the result of color concentration changes with time, but also the tone changes with time, which it is difficult to obtain consistent color products, and it’s easy to produce color difference.

The compatibility between cationic dyes is generally obtained through mutual comparison, at present the most widely used is compatibility value, symbol K.

The compatibility of dyestuff is the comprehensive effect of the affinity and diffusion of dyestuff to fiber, which is mainly determined by the affinity diffusion coefficient of dyestuff and the charge number of dyestuff. In the case of the same charge number, a dye with a large affinity and a large diffusion coefficient may have the same dyeing rate as a dye with a small affinity and a large diffusion coefficient.

 

8. Maximum adaptive temperature of cationic dyestuff dyed acrylic fiber?why?

1) The highest suitable temperature is 97-105

2) When dyeing temperature is too high, acrylic will produce excessive shrinkage, so that the handle becomes hard, fabric deformation, When the temperature is too low, through dyeing evenness poor

9. In order to improve the dyeing effect of cationic dyes, what measures can be taken?

1) Control temperature

Within 80℃, the heating rate can be faster.

Above 80℃, the amount of dye increases quickly, so the heating rate should be strictly controlled

2) Use retarding agent

Levelling agents such as 1227 or yuanming powder can be added in the dyeing process to improve the effect of levelling.

3) Control PH

PH should be 3-5

Light color should reduce the PH value, which is conducive to even dyeing

When brunet can raise PH value appropriately, which is conducive  to go up dye
