20 July 2020 - The European Waste Paper Recycling Council (EPRC) reports that the recycling rate in Europe has increased from 71.7% in 2018 to 72% in 2019, due to the steady use of waste paper by the European waste paper industry.
EPRC noted that while paper and cardboard consumption has decreased in Europe, recycled paper collection remains high in Europe.China's demand for recycled paper from Europe continues to fall sharply, while demand from other countries, such as Turkey and India, is growing.
"The increase in the rate of paper recycling to 72 per cent shows that paper recycling is not only a hope but has become a model of recycling and an important contribution to the green trade in Europe," said AngelikaChrist, chairman of the European Council for Paper Recycling (EPRC).
EPRC says it is monitoring the development of paper recycling rates in Europe and aims to achieve a recycling rate of 74% by 2020.
